Thank you so so much for anyone ever who has written for previous years, has come to see us, supported us, been on our judging panel, been a live walk on and made noises and sounds you never thought you would do live (SPECIAL KUDOS TO DAVID AULT'S MUM FOR HELPING US LAST YEAR!) 

I do hope, although not live in person, you will still support this groovy event, and we truly look forward to promoting some new funny, comedically driven uplifting audio fiction writing, even now, as the world is slightly crazier than usual.

Hello folks!

We have decided to extend the deadline for the script writing comp due to the volume of folks who have contacted us saying they would love to submit but haven't had time...so...now we would LOVE to be able to encourage more inclusively, and give a little more time for folks to hone their scripts. Thank you so much to those who have submitted so far - Sarah is blanking out the names of authors in readiness to send to the judges who can judge them on merit alone, just in case they know the authors involved!

Hello All!

If you made it to the London Podfest Live Audio performance, thank you! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. So so cool to work alongside audio drama royalty on this show - Yes I mean James and Layla and Karim and Fiona and Max and Hedley...such brilliant creative forces making consistently amazing audio....

The audience were reticent to begin with, but we won them over and out and the stage was populated with Horses and American jocks! Kudos to those who made it onstage!

It was fantastic to have one of the authors along - Maddy Searle - and we managed to get her up onstage to chat a little about her experiences and we got to applaud hEr loudly! Steve Baldwin couldn’t be there but was present in spirit...! 

Hedley Knights ran the tech with help from Beth - thanks team Battlebird! 

Maxamillian John was a trooper in doing the live foley making audio joy with granola and kids toys, melons, lettuce, cabbage, iPad stands, wicker basket lids and mooooore!

As a result of this, we were asked to run a similar new writing celebrating competition for Poduk...and so...today....we announce our submission window...NOVEMBER 5th 2019....so...10 minutes script....LGBQT+ theme....LIVE FOLEY....AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION....GET WRITING!

Max worked with us at the ADPP Live Original Shorts fest at the Vaults in 2018 and was outstandingly wonderful at providing a majority of the foley there.

Now I have had the privilege of talking to folks about making audio drama for the past 2/3 years or so. And...the people doing it...they know their stuff. I mean...theyve been churning it out forever but...y'know...we love them..and...I kinda feel sad they have the restrictions that we dont...but then...I guess....writing should be all about freedom of expression and not limiting yourself to time constraints (10-15mins) briefs (any genre any era) and expectations (nothing less than awesome please!)

Welcome!

If you're reading this then chances are, you want to write. To have your writing read. And maybe even spoken. So that you can hear it...or even see it brought to life....live! 

WELL ISN'T THAT EXCITIINGGGGGG


I'm Sarah Golding and I'll be one of the judges for this competition. No. I do not get a badge. Unless you want to make one?? No? Ah. Well lemme know if you want to change your mind.

Along with Fiona and some surprises re guests and participants whom we will reveal over the next few weeks, we will keep you updated with any fun things to think about or consider as the deadline approaches right here on this blog page. 

This is meant to be a script competition to inspire you to have a go, knowing the prize is seeing your work and having a recording of that for solace and to tout about the place for more gigs....

Some of you might start a new script from scratch. Some of you might....play with a script you have already that's been sitting in a drawer and you haven't made time to finish yet. Some of you may just sit down now, feel inspired and spend a day plotting and writing  a masterpiece, and ping it to us tomorrow...AND some might work fastidiously every day and night and put the script in two minutes before the deadline, having panicked that nothing is working everything is broken and why does your machine decide that now is a good time for a backup?

Anyways, however you work, DO COMMUNICATE. Any questions at all. Cos. We're quite friendly. Send any thoughts or queries to us Either under this blog or via [email protected] or the contact page on this site...

What are we looking for? Well, any one or any mix of these.....
COMEDY, SCI FI, THRILLERS, ROMANCE, HORROR, LGBQT+, COMEDY, MYSTERY, CRIME, FABLE, FANTASY, COMEDY, MYTHOLOGY, ACTION AND ADVENTUUUUUURE! TBH anything fun but....we'd LOVE some new comedy...huh? The world needs that now, right??

We would love to see
Wonderful fun, challenging, so-much-fun-to-play characters - roles for 2-6 actors, and a mix of soundscapes we can create live, and foley effects we can also experiment and have fun with live and even involve the audience to help create! Huzzahs!

or....Monologues.
Things with obscenities or nude audio scenes. Those are fun but....we don't want the live audience to scare the voice actors into submission or the spectators equally have to imagine the voice actors being those roles either. No-one wants that. No-one.....well...maybe two people. But they're possibly not able to come to London. Who knows.
